Sunday 4th October 2020 – Abbey Cave explore as part of a trip up north to visit areas I have yet to explore (though did have to cut the trip short).

With a good head torch you can explore these caves quite deeply. Organ cave goes on for quite a bit.

Note: Enter the Caves at your own risk, none of them have been professionally assessed as being stable enough to enter and there are signs advising explorers to this effect.

Spontaneous Trip to the Island Nation of Niue

Monday 9th December 2019 – Saturday 14th December 2019. A Spontaneous trip to visit Niue Island (While the airfares were still cheaper). Visiting Matapa Chasm, Togo Chasm, Limu Pools, Avaiki Cave, Palaha Caves, Avatele Beach, Talava Arches.

30th June 2018 – Spur of the moment Day trip north of Auckland to explore in and around Waipu Caves.

Millennium Cave, Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu

31st March 2018 – Exploring the Millennium Caves on Espiritu Santo Island in Vanuatu. Early morning trip from our accommodation, up a very rough unsealed road to a couple of villages far inland. Requires a bit of fitness and the ability to swim. When we did it, it rained very heavily on the swimming portion of the trip, followed by thunderstorms.

The Gorge swim was perhaps more picturesque than the Millennial Caves themselves, with several rather spectacular falls though were quite difficult to properly photograph (particularly if you’re floating down the river).

Heaphy Track Kahurangi National Park

7th to 10th December 2017 – Walking the Heaphy Track, Kahurangi National Park, near Nelson. 4 Day walking trip from Bainham through to Kohaihai.

26th November 2017 – Day trip to the King Country to explore some caves at Kohatunui with the Auckland Adventure Meetup. Thanks to Suzie, Phil, Luke for inviting us on to their property taking us around, Guiding and for their very welcoming hospitality and to Henko and Tilak for organizing this trip.
